Billingshurst Emergency Assistance Team

PAD stands for ‘Public Access Defibrillator’ and we currently look after over 30 of them!

Every month, we take time to visit each defibrillator, and check the battery life, battery/electrode expiry date and the general condition of the defibrillator and storage cabinet.

We are notified by the Emergency Operations Centre in Ambulance Control if a PAD site is used in an emergency, so rest assured, we keep a close eye on them.

It takes a lot of time and money to keep these vital and lifesaving equipment in check. This means that most donations go into these amazing devices, and every so often, we get a success story. Minutes matter to us.

We own 5 different types of defibrillators at the moment, though ultimately, they all do the same thing.

IPAD SP1

We currently have 21 of these in various PAD Sites across our area

LIFEPAK 1000

We currently have 5 of these in various PAD Sites across our area. These are the same defibrillators that SECAmb issue to First Responders.

Cardiac Science G3

We currently have 4 of these in various PAD Sites across our area. We are slowly replacing them with the new IPAD SPR.

Cardiac Science G5

We currently have 1 of these in Brooks Green Park

IPAD SPR

We are awaiting photos of our new IPAD SPRs in the wild. Stay tuned.

If you are interested where your nearest PAD site is, we recommend using the National Defibrillator Network. It is possible that of our defibrillators may not be the closest to you at any given point, as although we own a majority in the surrounding areas, we do not own them all. So to familiarise yourself, and to be aware, should the worst happen, please use the link below.

Rest assured however, that there is no requirement for people to know where their nearest defibrillator is in an emergency. If it is appropriate, the ambulance call-taker will direct the person who has called 999 to the nearest site, and give them an access code if required.

If you would like to sponsor one of our PAD Sites, please contact us to discuss options and availability via the ‘Contact Us’ button below.
